The first single "The Fear" is phenomenal, but still is not the best song on the album, which is great. Stand out tracks include, "Fuck You" (my personal favorite), and "Not Fair". Overall, it's a great effort from a great songwriter/singer. I'm excited to hear more from Lily Allen in the future. I just hope she stays sassy! I can't find a link to the album but here's the video for "The Fear" but hopefully, if you're interested, you will check out the album!

#2. Propagandhi - Supporting Caste. Enough said. The boys from Canada are back and they aren't joking. The new album doesn't properly hit stores until March 10 but if you're a fan, you want this now. Propagandhi mixes the finest elements of Less Talk, More Rock and Potemkin City Limits with dashes of Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes thrown in all the right places for the greatest punk-pop punk-metal-anarchist record ever made. I just can't get enough. Stand out tracks are "Human(e) Meat (The Flansing of Sandor Katz), "The Bangers Embrace" and "Dear Coaches Corner" but the whole record is awesome! You can check out "Dear Coaches Corner" below.

Kyle

Guilty Pleasures (AKA: Songs You Hate to Love) Day!

So we know we've been terrible at keeping this up, but today should make up for any and all of our missed show introductions because today is...

Guilty Pleasures (aka: Songs You Hate To Love) Day!

That's right! with the release of their latest track "Gasoline". For those that aren't familiar with the Bouncing Souls, they've been around for twenty years now and have released, I believe, 6 albums. In 2009, however, they are going the unconventional route. Instead of releasing a whole album, they have decided to release a new song every month of the year, making a total of 12. "Gasoline" was January's song and I think it may be one of the best songs the Souls have ever released. You can check it out here.

#2: I've been in love with Fake Problems for the last two years since I saw them open for Against Me! back in early 2007. I've managed to see them a few times since then and continue to collect everything that they put out. Their recent signing to Side One Dummy gave us a date for their new record "It's Great to Be Alive", February 17th. But the internet gave me one more reason for why I love it so much, music leaking and file sharing! The new record leaked back in the middle of December and I've been in love with it since the first note hit my ear. It is the best and most mature outing from the young band, and this won't be the last you hear of them. You can listen to it here.

If you like this also check out:

"How Far Our Bodies Go" (2007/Sabot Productions)

"Spurs and Spokes/Bull>Matador (2006/Sabot Productions)

Kyle

Introduction Day!

So you've decided to listen to our radio show. And follow our blog! Good for you!
If you listened to our very first show, entitled What We Like To Listen To Day!, broadcasted on 88.1 FM in Columbia, Missouri or on kcou.fm, you know that Kyle and I both listen to mindblowingly terrific music.

01/25/09 What We Listen To!

Also if you listened to our show, you heard about the concept of what's going on. For all you listeners that missed out, I guess I can fill you in. Each week on The New Pulse! is a new theme for your listening enjoyment. Our show will be based around that theme. So all the music we play and whatever we discuss will revolve around our carefully selected topic. After our shows, we'll post our recorded shows for everyone that missed out because of a very important reason, and a tracklisting so you know what we played that week. We might, if you are so blessed, give you minute-by-minute updates as our show progesses. We also will probably start posting general music topics on here, such as "What We're Listening To" schpeils so you might just end up as great and informed as we are.
I guess that's all you need to know for now (especially considering my lab TA is giving me dirty looks).

Don't forget to tune in next Sunday, February 1 to The New Pulse!

Next week's theme: Saddle creek Day!
